Dishonest, unethical owner

Owner, Geneva Rapp, is dishonest, unethical & rude. My dad's move was scheduled on a Wednesday. She called Monday asking to move him a day early, on Tuesday. SHE STATED SHE TOOK ANOTHER JOB ON OUR MOVING DAY. I told her our timeline didn't allow us to change the move to Tuesday or Thursday either. This date was booked 2 months in advance. She didn't listen to me, interrupted constantly & kept badgering me to “help her out." After 2 conversations I gave Ms Rapp a hard no & asked if her movers would be there at 8:15a Wednesday as agreed. She said she'd have to call me back on Tuesday.

Fearing we would not have any mover, I texted her later Monday evening & asked her to provide packers & packing materials for free in exchange for moving Tuesday at 10a. She agreed stating "the movers will come out & get started & she would come to do the final packing."

An employee showed up at 9a. According to him, he didn't know they were moving us that day. I'm sure he was there to do reconnaissance because the movers showed up but no Ms Rapp or any packers. My sister called her & was rudely told that she & I only agreed on her packing the kitchen & she stated that was already packed. She then threatened to pull her movers from the job immediately.

The movers did a good job but the owner is a piece of work. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! ZERO STARS.

Unethical Billing.

I hired this company to pack up the apartment of a client who is disabled. They store by the pound. They take the truck to a weigh station and that is how you pay for storage.

I'm assuming to pad their bill, they packed literal garbage such as empty takeout containers. They quoted me a different price over the phone for the packing than was ultimately billed. Then after everything was in storage and I tried to access my client's items, I was told that the only way to do it was by appointment.

They billed quarterly for storage, to the tune of over $250 per month but that would vary, depending on how much stuff you had. My client did not have any appliances, very little furniture and it was a small one bedroom apartment, so let that be your guide in determining how much it would cost you per month.

The warehouse is an old concrete block building that doesn't look like it has been properly maintained for decades. When they came out of storage the items were riddled with mouse droppings, chewed and peed on by rodents. They would not allow me back to view where the items were being stored but claimed that the items were in a sealed shipping container. Given the rodent droppings, I would guess it wasn't truly sealed.

They never told me that I would be charged again to remove the items from storage. So they charged my client for two people to bring the items from the back of the warehouse to the front, even though the auction company provided two people to move the items out of storage. Now they are hounding me to pay that invoice ($687.50 to move stuff from the back of their warehouse to the front--supposedly took 5 men 6.25 hours, over two days to do this) and threatening legal action although they don't have a signed contract (because they never provided me with one) outlining all the additional charges that my client would incur. They actually had the audacity to tell me that I would not even be able to have an auction if they had not released my client's items from storage (more or less saying I should thank them for allowing my client to have his belongings back and that somehow that entitles them to the proceeds from the auction) and that they usually DO NOT release items unless you pay them up front for their "pulling stuff out of the back of their warehouse" charges. So in other words, they hold your possessions hostage unless you pay them AGAIN, to move your items from the back to the front of their warehouse. But they never tell you this until they already have your items packed and in their possession.

The "professional" packing of many of the items amounted to throwing everything into large, black garbage bags. Shoes, clothing, household goods, books, video tapes, etc. all just thrown together in a garbage bags.

The total for the packing and the move was $2950. The total for the storage for a year was $3,148.80 and they charged another $687.50 to get the items out of storage. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Service cost: $6786
